Askøy is the second largest municipality in Hordaland. The municipal center is Kleppestø, and from here you can catch an express boat which will get you to Bergen city center in 10 minutes. Aksøy has a varied business sector. The fish distribution industry is well established on Askøy, and in addition the municipality has several boat manufacturers.
Hanøytangen is a larger commercial area, centrally located on Askøy. The facility is partly aimed at large offshore projects and has one of the world's largest dry docks, in addition to several deepwater docks (60 m at the deepest). Work has been invested in marine and maritime sectors. The area has its own jetty, parking areas and good car accessibility.
This is the largest commercial park on Askøy with over 190 established businesses. There is currently 280 acres of new commercial areas for sale in connection with the expansion of the park. Storebotn is 20 minutes from Pudderfjorsbroen, and 5 minutes from Schlumberger's (former Framo Engineering) large test and monitoring facility on Horsøy. Horsøy is a commercial area centrally located on Askøy. The area is characterized by industry and construction. Horsøy commercial area is bought out by FRamo Engineering who have their new test-, research- and development facility in Horsøy. The facility has a deep water harbor, and there are large areas set aside for the development of the facility, subcontractors, and partners. A considerable expansion for industrial purposes is under construction. The area has its own port, and good parking- and car accessibility. 15 minutes to Bergen city center.
Florvåg has a city center and is an established commercial area, though still somewhat under construction. There are a few industries connected to Frank Mohn. In Florvåg there is production of some types of boats, along with a few construction businesses. The area also has a grocery store with a post office, clothing store, used boats outlet, plumber and more.
Klappestø is the municipal center in Askøy municipality, and has all center functions. In Kleppestø you'll find a town hall, a shopping mall, gas stations, port for public transport to Bergen, as well as a separate bus station which serves as a juntion for the public transportation between Askøy and Bergen. It is strongly characterized by commerce, but also health and social services, construction, service providors, and other industries that are established in the area.
Byneset ligger ved Byfjorden, ca 1 km fra kommune-senter og regionsenter Kleppestø. Området har god forbindelse til hovedvegsystemet mot Bergen, Flesland, region vest og resten av Askøy,god kollektivdekning: alle busser til/fra Askøy stopper rett ved området. Hurtigbåtforbindelse til Bergen sentrum fra Kleppestø. Kommunen eier tomten. Tidligere tankanlegg ble fjernet fra tomten i 2014. Kommunen utarbeider nå område-reguleringsplan.
