The university area is located at Ullandhaug, ca. 5 km from Stavanger city center, and boarders Stavanger's largest outdoor recreational area, Sørmarka.
University of Stavanger, Oljedirektoratet, iPark, Måltidets Hus, International Research Institute of Stavanger AS(IRIS), Innovasjon Norge and NRK are all established in the area. In addition, there are a number of knowledge businesses.
About half the area is developed, the rest is set away for further development with educational buildings, buildings for research, and knowledge businesses. In 2013 there were around 3000 jobs in the university area.
iPark Eiendom AS manages a significant number of buildings in the area, and offer rent of modern office premises for knowledge businesses, everything from single offices to larger rental areas. A smaller part of the knowledge park is set aside for precubator- and incubator businesses. Precubator is directed at businesses in an early phase of research related innovation, and incubator a later phase in the businesses' development.
The area has bus connections in several directions. The public transport coverage towards Stavanger city center is considered to be good.
