Langesund is home to Bamble municipality’s administrative centre.
This pleasant small town is centrally located in the municipality, at the seaward approach to Grenland. The ferry terminal, with daily services to Hirtshals in Denmark, Stavanger and Bergen, is just outside the central area. Fv352 / Rv354 links Langesund to the E18. The town has a range of small shops and good places to eat. Wrightegaarden is famous for its open-air summer concerts in the heart of the town.
The town is surrounded by residential areas, and Langesundstangen, Steinvika and Krokshavn are popular recreational areas for people from all over Grenland. The former shipyard area is earmarked for development, enabling Langesund to expand both its residential and commercial offer.
